Maftir
The Maftir repeats the last verses of the Seventh Portion. Kedoshim is read on its own only in a leap year; in other years Acharei Mot and Kedoshim are read together on one Shabbat, the reading runs from Leviticus 16:1 to 20:27, and this Maftir is read. On Shabbat Rosh Chodesh a second Torah scroll is taken out for a special Maftir.

Haftarah
Kedoshim lists the forbidden unions and their penalties (20:10–21); the haftarah indicts Yerushalayim, “the bloody city”, for those very sins — a father’s nakedness uncovered, a woman approached in her uncleanness, a daughter-in-law and a sister defiled (22:10–11) — and for the bribes, usury and oppression that Kedoshim also forbids (22:12; compare 19:13, 19:33). Ashkenazi communities, Chabad among them, read Ezekiel 22:1–19 when Kedoshim is read on its own after a regular Shabbat Acharei Mot. When Acharei Mot had a special haftarah (Shabbat HaGadol or Machar Chodesh), and when Acharei Mot and Kedoshim are read together, Ashkenazi communities read Amos 9:7–15 instead. Sephardic communities read Ezekiel 20:2–20. On Shabbat Rosh Chodesh the special haftarah is read.

Haftarah: Amos 9:7–15
Read by Ashkenazi communities, Chabad among them, when Acharei Mot and Kedoshim are read together, and when Kedoshim follows a Shabbat Acharei Mot that had a special haftarah. Hashem will sift the house of Yisrael among the nations “yet not the least pebble shall fall upon the earth” (9:9), and will raise up the fallen tabernacle of David (9:11).
9:7“Are you not as children of the Kushim (Ethiopians) unto Me, O children of Yisrael?” says Hashem. “Have I not brought up Yisrael out of the land of Mitzrayim, and the Pelishtim (Philistines) from Kaftor (Caphtor), and Aram (Syria) from Kir?

Haftarah: Sephardic Custom
Read by Sephardic communities instead of Ezekiel 22, both when Kedoshim is read on its own and when it is read together with Acharei Mot. Hashem recalls choosing Yisrael in Mitzrayim and giving them His statutes and judgments, “which if a man does, he shall even live in them” (20:11; compare Leviticus 18:5), and His sabbaths as a sign between Him and them (20:12, 20:20).
20:2Then came the word of Hashem unto me, saying,
Vayehi devar-Adonai elay lemor.
בוַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהֹוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃
20:3“Son of man, speak unto the elders of Yisrael, and say unto them, ‘Thus says the Lord Hashem: Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live, says the Lord Hashem, I will not be inquired of by you.’

Maftir: Shabbat Rosh Chodesh
When Shabbat Kedoshim is Rosh Chodesh Iyar (1 Iyar), as it is about one leap year in four, a second Torah scroll is taken out: six aliyot are read from Kedoshim, the seventh from these verses, and the Maftir repeats Numbers 28:9–15.
28:9And on the Shabbat day two lambs of the first year without blemish, and two tenth parts of an ephah of fine flour for a meal offering, mingled with oil, and its drink offering.

Haftarah: Shabbat Rosh Chodesh
Read on Shabbat Rosh Chodesh instead of Ezekiel 22. After the last verse, verse 23 is read again, so that the haftarah ends with “from one new moon to another, and from one Shabbat to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me” (66:23).
66:1Thus says Hashem: The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool; where is the house that you build unto Me? And where is the place of My rest?

Sources & method
- Hebrew text
- The Masoretic text with vowels (nikkud) and cantillation marks (ta’amim), as published on Chabad.org. Every verse was checked character by character against Chabad’s Tanakh. Where the written text (ketiv) differs from the reading (qere), the reading is shown and the written form follows in small type.
- English translation
- The King James Version (public domain), lightly modernized by Benei Avraham: “thee/thou/ye” become “you,” older verb forms are updated (“hath” to “has,” “begat” to “begot”), and archaic words are replaced only where the meaning would otherwise be unclear. People and places carry their Hebrew names, with the familiar English name in parentheses the first time (e.g., Moshe (Moses)). The Divine Name (יהוה, “the LORD” in the KJV) is written “Hashem”; “God” (Elohim) is unchanged. Verse numbers follow the Hebrew Bible.
- Transliteration
- Produced from the Hebrew with the open-source hebrew-transliteration library, adapted to Sephardic/Israeli pronunciation and reviewed by hand: ḥ for Chet and Chaf, tz for Tzadi, k for Kuf, and the Divine Name read “Adonai.” Names are capitalized.
- Aliyot & haftarot
- Portion divisions and haftarah readings follow the standard Jewish calendar outside Israel, cross-checked with Chabad.org and Hebcal. Ashkenazi and Sephardic haftarah customs are both shown.
- Hebrew font
- SBL Hebrew, by the Society of Biblical Literature.
